About Tim in Thailand

What we cover

Everything a person aged fifty or over needs to understand before spending long periods in Thailand: the visa routes and what each one asks of you, what life actually costs, healthcare and insurance, where to live, and the practical business of banking, housing, transport and building a life somewhere new.

The audience is mostly British, but the site is written to be useful to Americans, Australians, Canadians and Europeans too. Money examples appear in baht alongside pounds and dollars, and we cover both UK pensions and US Social Security.

Who is Tim?

Tim is the presenter and guide for this brand — the voice that explains the research in plain English, without jargon and without a sales pitch. He is how the information is delivered: practical, experienced in tone, occasionally dry, and never in a hurry to tell you that everything will be marvellous.

How we research

• Primary sources first: Thai immigration, the e-Visa portal, the Board of Investment, the Revenue Department, and the relevant home-country government sources.
• Every page that depends on current rules carries a last-updated date and links to the source it relies on.
• Where something genuinely needs live confirmation, we say so and mark it as needing research rather than inventing a figure.
• We do not publish subscriber counts, sales figures or testimonials we cannot verify.
• Cost figures are described as researched planning estimates, never as quotes.

What we are not

We are not lawyers, accountants, immigration agents, insurance brokers or property agents, and nothing on this site is legal, tax, financial, insurance or medical advice. What we can do is explain how things work clearly enough that you can ask a professional better questions — and point you towards the right official source.

How we make money

Three ways, all of them stated openly. We sell digital guides and downloads. We may receive a commission when readers use some of the services we recommend, at no additional cost to the reader. And we may in future carry advertising or sponsorship, which would be labelled as such.

A commission never buys a recommendation. If a service is not one we would suggest to a friend, it does not go on the site regardless of what it pays. The affiliate disclosure sets this out in full.

Corrections
